PPG

The phased plasma gun fires a "bolt" that is an extremely hot charge of energized helium (plasma) in a magnetic containment field. This is propelled by an electrical charge. The filed dissipates upon contact with a solid object, leaving the plasma charge to react directly with the target. Displacement of supercharged air molecules results in the charachteristic "thunderclap" sound heard on discharge. The plasma bolt is able to cut through flesh and metal (it does not ricochet apart from metals specially coated for further protection, such as blast doors).

There are three PPG settings:
1.) This will produce a solid impact without significant burning.
2.) This will produce surface damage.
3.) This setting will burn into a body, causing damage to skin and muscle and, if used continuously, sever damage to internal tissue and bones.
Even at the lowest setting continuous use can cause serious burns and self-cauterization of wounds and melt clothes to the skin.

PPG Rifle

The PPG rifle is a much larger weapon and has a built-in laser sight. It can recharge and fire twice as quickly as a normal PPG pistol.

Shock Sticks

Shock sticks interfere with the nerve signals in the body and can disable a person quite easily. They are long baton-shaped sticjs and need recharging after twenty shocks. Although far "safer" than the old truncheons, they can inflict serious injuries that may need medical attention. This weapon is ideal against members of violent crowds and has been invaluable in riot situations.

Riot Gear

Riot gear really consists of protective additions to other weapons rather than further equipment. When on riot duty, you will be given a flak jacket, the equivalent of a bulletproof vest, which can absorb or reflect most moderate-level PPG blasts. This does not mean that risks can be taken, as the vests do not last long. However, heavy-duty personel armor is available when the conflict looks to be major in scope or duration. Appropriate headgear is also issued.

Morph Gas

If violence is not being contained by means of dispersal tactics employing shock sticks and PPGs, the next step is to use morph gas. This is an anesthetic gas used to quell riots. Effectiveness is limited to human and near-human matabolisms. Humans, Centauri, and Grome are affected easily, but it takes longer with Narn and Pak'ma'ra.

Sleepers

Not really a weapon, sleepers are drugs used by Psi Corps to repress telepathic abilities in those who will not join the corps. The drugs may be used agains Psi Corp operatives if the need arises.

Star Webbing

Star webbing is energized webbing used to immobilize or incapacitate a person. However, it is somwhat clumsy and is not used to a great extent.

This conludes the information on Personal Security Equipment.
